Rob Gronkowski Gets Into Entertainment Biz, Joins Nuthouse Sports as Partner (Exclusive)
Rob Gronkowski is the latest athlete to explore the entertainment business, teaming up with his former New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman and Superdigital founder Assaf Swissa as a partner in the entertainment studio Nuthouse Sports.
The premise of Nuthouse (which was spun out of Superdigital) is to “serious athletes in unserious content.” To that end, Gronk and Edelman will front a new series set to debut Oct. 15 called Dudes on Dudes with Gronk and Jules.
The series will see the former NFL stars highlighting “three dudes from the world of sports; discussing what makes them special, reliving their most memorable performances, and sharing stories that should probably stay in the locker room,” per the logline.
“People are going to be surprised by how smart this show is. I also think they’ll be surprised by how dumb it is too. It’s not rocket surgery,” Edelman said in a statement.
Nuthouse has multiple projects in development, and previously produced the Showtime documentary about Edelman called 100%. It also has a digital series Games with Names. The addition of Gronk will serve to help expand the company’s slate.
“I’m pumped to join Nuthouse Sports and share our new show Dudes on Dudes with the world,” said Gronkowski. “Jules and I have been through it all together and I had so much fun when I did Games with Names, I was like, ‘what the heck, why don’t we make a show together?’”
Dudes On Dudes with Gronk and Jules is produced by Nuthouse Sports in partnership with iHeartPodcasts
Kyler Schelling, Nuthouse’s head of creative, and showrunner of Games with Names will also serve as showrunner for Dudes on Dudes.
Superdigital supports Nuthouse with brand strategy, development and business operations, led by Billy Griffin, longtime advisor to Edelman.
