Rochesterians return home grateful for family and safe travels ahead of snow

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Anticipation was in the air as some Rochesterians came home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Abby Cerame flew home to surprise her parents. She recently moved from Greece, N.Y. to Florida.

“I’m excited! Nervous,” Cerame said. “I’m thankful for my family, and I just moved a month ago, so for their support.”

Another frequent flier returned home from working as a private chef for more than two weeks in Las Vegas.

“I’m relieved,” said Mara Hart of Rochester. “It’s a crazy city to be in for that long. I’m thankful for my job and my family.”

Many were thankful to be home, and safely, ahead of potential winter weather.

Lake effect snow warnings are in effect for southwestern parts of the Rochester region throughout the upcoming weekend.

Some areas are predicted to see several inches of snow, which the Governor’s Office said could impact visibility.

Travelers at the Rochester airport were thankful to make it home without issue.

“I’ll be with my grandfather and my dad,” said Adam Hebert, who returned home from New York City. “You know, we’ll eat some food, watch some football, a normal Thanksgiving.”

“The best thing to be thankful for is your family,” said Luis Torres of Brooklyn. “That’s my heart. Everybody lives here, and I’m the only one left in Brooklyn. I come travel here a lot and I love Rochester.”
