Slippery Rock drew the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Division II Semifinals and will travel to No. 2 seed Ferris State Dec. 14 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University football team drew the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Division II semifinals and will travel to No. 2 seed Ferris State Dec. 14 for a 3:30 p.m. game.

The NCAA Committee reseeded the final four teams Saturday night and announced that undefeated Super Region Two winner Valdosta State (12-0) earned the No. 1 seed with Ferris State (12-1) earning the No. 2 seed after claiming Super Region Three with a dominant 41-7 win over defending national champion Harding Saturday.
Slippery Rock earned the No. 3 seed with a 12-1 record after claiming the Super Region One title and Minnesota State was slotted in as the No. 4 seed after winning the Super Region Four title with an 11-3 record.
Minnesota State will fly to Valdosta State for a noon kickoff next Saturday, while Slippery Rock will bus to Big Rapids, Michigan to face Ferris State. The trip to Ferris State comes in around 460 miles from SRU, which falls under the NCAA’s 600-mile requirement for flights.
The Rock will be making their fourth appearance in the national semifinals and their first since 2019. Ferris State is headed to the national semifinals for the sixth time in the last eight years and the seventh time in program history. The Bulldogs won back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022. Slippery Rock has never advanced past the semifinal round.
Both Division II semifinal games will be aired nationally on ESPN+. Slippery Rock’s local radio crew of Bob Cupp and Glenn Thompson from The Rock Station will make the trip and broadcast the game on 97.7 FM in Butler County and on the web at 977rocks.com.
The winners of next week’s semifinal games will play for the national title Dec. 21 in McKinney, Texas.
