Rock Entertainment Sports Network: Gray Media announces groundbreaking broadcast partnership with Rock Entertainment Group

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Today, WOIO/WUAB parent company Gray Media, in partnership with Rock Entertainment Group, announced they have reached an agreement to launch “Rock Entertainment Sports Network” in August 2024.

Rock Entertainment Sports Network on Channel 22.1 will be the 24/7 home of local Ohio sports, including the Cleveland Monsters, Cleveland Charge and St. Edward High School.

“Gray is thrilled to partner with Rock Entertainment Group to bring live sports free over-the-air to viewers across Ohio,” said Matt Moran, the Senior Managing Vice President for Gray Media. “This joint venture is a game changer for Ohio sports fans and will usher in a new era of free televised live sports in Ohio.”

Gray-owned stations WOIO and WUAB in Cleveland and WXIX in Cincinnati will launch the network in August 2024, with plans to expand to other broadcast markets in the future.

The Rock Entertainment Sports Network lineup will includethe American Hockey League 2015-2016 Calder Cup Champion Cleveland Monsters, the NBA G League Cleveland Charge, St. Edward High School Varsity Sports, starting with football this fall, and programming from the Frontier League Lake Erie Crushers.

Fans will have a chance to watch select games, plus local college, high school and other professional teams.

Our first local game will be Aug. 23 when the St. Edward Varsity Football team takes on Pickerington North.

How to Watch

Coming in August 2024, the Rock Entertainment Sports Network will offer free, 24/7 access of local Ohio sports and entertainment programming to millions across the state.

The network will be available on channel 22.1 with free over-the-air broadcasts.

Gray Media and Rock Entertainment Group are working to ensure you can watch on all major cable, satellite and virtual pay-TV platforms throughout Ohio.

Further details on over-the-air, multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) and streaming components are expected as the network grows.
