Rockford-area companies share job opportunities with Auburn High School students
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – More than 300 Auburn High School juniors and seniors had the chance Wednesday to apply for work that doesn’t require a college degree.
About 35 Rockford-area companies from industries including cosmetology, real estate and manufacturing were on hand at Auburn High School, 5110 Auburn St., for the second annual “Future Fair – Career Edition.” Different branches of the U.S. military were also recruiting at the job fair.
Katy Haun, the college career academy coach at Auburn High School, says it’s important to support students who may not be planning to go to college.
“It’s no secret that we have a lot of positions that are open and available in our local community,” Haun said. “It’s just really important to get students interested in something, to aspire to be something, to give back to the community.”
In November, Auburn held the “Future Fair – College Edition” that included more than 20 regional schools and universities.
