Rockford families visit summer fitness, wellness festival

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The Northwest Community Center launches its first summer wellness festival on Rockford’s west side.

On Saturday, families ventured to the Northwest Community Center, 1325 N. Johnston Avenue, to engage in a new summer event, Thrive Fest.

According to Northwest Community Center, Thrive Fest strives to boost overall wellness in the Rockford community by highlighting fun and healthy activities including aerobic activities and interactive sessions.

“We just wanted to create an event for the entire family unit,” Northwest Community Center executive director, Nichol Fricks says. “It’s very important for the kids. I mean, they’re active and we need to keep them, you know, active and engaged and doing things because they’re full of energy. We got plenty of things for them to do here.”
