Over $20K worth of vehicle rims stolen
Someone cut a hole in a storage yard fence for Wheel Works Detroit, 4519 Delemere Blvd., and stole at least 30 car and truck rims.
The company repairs, customizes and paints wheel rims for customers at a facility just south of 14 Mile Road and north of Normandy Oaks Park.
“It’s a small building but they have a lot of inventory,” Royal Oak police Lt. Richard Millard said Monday. “The value of the stolen rims is over $20,000.”
The stolen rims were for various vehicles, from a Chevrolet Camaro to a Ford Bronco, Dodge Ram and other cars and trucks.
Police said the theft was discovered and reported about 7 a.m. May 29.
The business had no surveillance cameras outside its small building. Police are investigating the theft, but have no information about possible suspects in the theft at this point, Millard said.
Royal Oak man arrested for heroin possession
A Royal Oak driver was arrested for heroin possession after a traffic stop.
The driver, 30, recently moved to the area from Texas.
Police stopped him about 10:45 p.m. May 27 near 11 Mile Road and Washington Avenue because his license plate was obstructed.
“He seemed very nervous and admitted to having a history of drug use,” said Royal Oak police Lt. Richard Millard.
Officers patted him down and felt something in one of his pockets that turned out to be a small amount of heroin and a cut straw with heroin residue in it, police said.
The suspect has no prior criminal history in Michigan.
He was arrested and arraigned in Royal Oak 44th District Court on a charge of heroin possession, a four-year felony.
The suspect is free on personal bond.

The location is an anime toy store and gift shop that sells collectible items, along with homegoods and fuzzy dolls.

Millard said the woman, 37, uses the facilities at the complex when she shows up there, and is now believed to be homeless.
The trespassing charge against her is a misdemeanor. She is jailed on a $1,000, 10 percent, bond, and is being held in Oakland County Jail.
Police said they have arrested the woman multiple times in the last several years.
Last year, she was arrested in May, June and December for trespassing.
