Rudy Giuliani has undervalued his World Series rings — bankruptcy attorney

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is hiding the true value of his World Series rings and other jewelry, a lawyer for his bankruptcy creditors has claimed.

Rachel Strickland, an attorney for two Georgia election workers that Giuliani falsely accused of trying to rig the 2020 election, complained in a court filing that Giuliani had “egregiously low values to his assets, including Yankee World Series rings.”

Strickland stated in Tuesday’s filing that Giuliani’s approach to discovery requests has been to hide his assets. Giuliani declared bankruptcy in December after a jury awarded $148 million to the election workers in a defamation lawsuit against him.

“Mr. Giuliani has had to file multiple sets of his schedules of assets and liabilities that are “disclosing additional assets not previously disclosed, such as 925,186 shares of Decision Sciences LLP and an upcoming book

“However, creditors still have significant doubts about the accuracy of these filings generally given the egregiously low values to his assets, including Yankee World Series rings,” she wrote.

She then referenced her previous court filing in May in which she wrote that Giuliani was trying to keep his jewelry as personal items by deliberately undervaluing them.

The filing said: “For example, the Debtor values the following jewelry at a total of $30,000: “costume jewelry; diamond ring; three Yankee World Series rings, two Bulova watches, five Shinola watches, one Tiffany & Co watch, one Seiko watch, one Frank Muller watch, one Graham watch, one Corum watch, one Rolex, two IWC watches, one Invicta watch, two Breitling watches, one Raymond Weil watch, one Baume & Mercier watch, and six unnamed watches.

“Clearly, the aggregate value of the Debtor’s jewelry materially exceeds that amount. In fact, a single New York Yankees World Series ring alone can be valued at over $29,000.”

The Yankees baseball team gave Giuliani at least three rings on three occasions they won the World Series while he was mayor, in recognition of his support for the Yankees team. That included trying to secure them a stadium in West Manhattan.

Giuliani wore one of the rings prominently while campaigning for president in 2007. He was later beaten for the Republican nomination by Donald Trump.

As an attorney for Donald Trump in 2020, Giuliani falsely accused mother and daughter Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss of adding ballots for Joe Biden, who won the state.

Newsweek sought email comment from Giuliani’s spokesman on Thursday.

Strickland’s filing on Tuesday was in opposition to Giuliani’s request to the court to liquidate his assets.

However, the following day, Wednesday, Giuliani’s lawyer, Gary Fishoff, announced in court filing that Giuliani had changed his mind about liquidating his assets and now wants to come out of bankruptcy.

As Strickland is also hoping that Giuliani comes out of bankruptcy, Judge Sean Lane strongly indicated at a hearing on Wednesday that the request would be granted but said he had not made a final determination.
