HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech track & field junior Sam Lange has been named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The honor is the first of his career at Tech.

Lange, a native of Washington, Illinois, continued his unbeaten season with a season’s best time in the 1,500m at the Phil Esten Challenge on Saturday, clocking an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 3:48.38. The win marked his fourth win of the outdoor campaign.

Lange and the rest of the GLIAC roster will compete in the GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Grand Valley State on May 1-3.
