Russell Biven to join WVLT Sports for Varsity All Access this fall

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Longtime broadcaster Russell Biven is returning to the air on Friday nights this fall on MyVLT!

He’ll be joining the WVLT Sports Team covering the latest in high school football, right as it happens. Biven will host Football Night Live, which includes a pregame show at 6:30 p.m. and the Smartbank Game of the Week at 7 p.m.

He’ll also be working closely with WVLT’s Rick Russo and John Sartori.

“I’ve known Rick a long time, and the man is dedicated to this community,” said Biven, who’s been in Knoxville since 1999.

Football Night Live will open the season with powerhouse Alcoa hosting Ravenwood on Aug. 23. Throughout the season, expect these games, along with five more to be decided:

Aug. 30: Jefferson County at Sevier County

Sept. 6: Bearden at Anderson County

Sept. 13: Maryville at West

Sept. 20: Gatlinburg-Pittman at Fulton

Biven will be joined in the booth by Chad Hatmaker and coach Tony Rogers.

“It will be a great way to start your weekend with some great high school football and a lot of fun guests during the pregame show that everyone will know,” said Biven.

Can’t catch the action on-air? Don’t worry; WVLT will also be streaming everything on wvlt.tv and in the WVLT News App.
