(rv) Seahawks Volleyball Advances to SUN Semifinals in Sweep Fashion over Gyrenes – Keiser University Athletics
The (rv) Keiser volleyball team defeated the Ave Maria Gyrenes in three straight sets tonight at the Student Life Center to advance to the SUN Tournament semifinals this Friday. Libero Faith Marquis broke the school record for single-season digs with 605, achieving this milestone with just one dig in the match. Junior outside hitter Mackenzie Pryor lead the way offensively with 18 kills, hitting .375.

- Amie Molina delivered a service ace to put the Seahawks ahead, 4-3
- A Keiser error left Ave Maria trailing by just one point
- A solo block from the Gyrenes tied the set at 8-8
- Back-to-back kills by Mackenzie Pryor brought Keiser back into the lead
- With the set tied at 16, the Seahawks called a timeout
- Keiser went on a four-point run to pull ahead, 20-16
- Kills by Isabella Steffel and Aby Tibesar forced the Gyrenes to take a timeout
- A block by Pryor and Aby Tibesar brought Keiser to set point

- Four consecutive attack errors by the Gyrenes extended the Seahawks’ lead to 12-5
- A four-point run from Keiser, including a service ace by Frederica Silva, increased their lead to 10 points
- The teams exchanged service errors, keeping Keiser in the lead at 19-9
- Kills by Emma Friese and Frederica Silva brought the Seahawks within two points of set point

- The Seahawks took an early four-point lead with kills by Pryor and a service ace by Marquis

- Two Keiser errors allowed Ave Maria to edge closer
- With a four-point run, the Gyrenes took the lead at 12-11
- The Seahawks regained the lead with a block by Lester and Steffel
- Ave Maria tied the set with a block assist
- The Gyrenes reached set point, leading 24-23 after scoring three consecutive points
- Amie Molina delivered a clutch service ace, putting the Seahawks back in front at 26-25
- Two final blocks by the Seahawks, courtesy of Emma Friese, Frederica Silva, and Isabella Steffel, ended the final set
- The Seahawks hit .223 in tonight’s victory
- Keiser recorded 10 service aces, their third-highest total this season
- Mackenzie Pryor led with 18 kills, hitting .375 in the sweep
- Close behind, standout freshman Emma Friese contributed nine kills, hitting .263
- Junior libero Faith Marquis set a school record for most digs in a single season, now totaling 605+
- The Gainesville, Fla. native needed just one dig to claim the record but went on to record 24 digs in the three-set sweep, achieving a .964 reception percentage
- On defense, Isabella Steffel added four block assists, averaging 1.33 blocks per set in the win
- Amie Molina recorded her third career double-double, with 17 assists and 10 digs
- With two block assists tonight, Aby Tibesar moved to second all-time for single-season block assists, with 92
- The Seahawks improve to 28-7, advancing to their third consecutive SUN semifinals
- Keiser continues to lead the series 28-12, including a 14-6 record at home
- Tonight’s win marks the fourth consecutive sweep over the Gyrenes, dating back to last season
- This is Keiser’s 21st sweep of the season
- For only the second time this season, the Seahawks had to play past the 25-point mark, winning set three 30-28
- Head Coach James Rogers earned his 190th win at Keiser, bringing his coaching record to 190-76
The Seahawks will play in the SUN semifinals Friday, Nov. 15th against the No. 2 seed Southeastern. First serve is set for 6:00PM in Miami Gardens, Fla.
