Ryan Reynolds is a force in the Formula 1 world

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Ryan Reynolds continues to expand his impressive portfolio -– this time merging his passion for marketing and business with the high-octane world of Formula 1.

Last year, the French Formula 1 team BWT Alpine secured a €200 million investment from a group of investors, including Reynolds and his Welcome to Wrexham co-star Rob McElhenney. This significant cash infusion gave the group a 24% equity stake in Alpine, bolstering the team’s competitive edge.

The partnership didn’t stop there. Shortly after the investment, MNTN, a leader in streaming TV advertising and branded as “The Hardest Working Software in Television™,” became Alpine’s official Performance TV Sponsor. This multi-year collaboration debuted at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, prominently showcasing MNTN’s logo on the A523 race car and throughout team environments at key races.

Reynolds’ business acumen has become as celebrated as his acting career. Known for selling ventures like Aviation Gin and Mint Mobile for large sums, he co-leads the marketing and production company Maximum Effort alongside George Dewey. His influence also extends into film, with Deadpool & Wolverine grossing $1.3 billion worldwide in 2024, setting a franchise record and becoming the year’s second highest-grossing film.

Reflecting on his approach to marketing, Reynolds told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think of marketing so much differently than I did before Deadpool. What used to feel like an obligation is now one of my favorite parts of the process. It’s an opportunity to frame expectation, then subvert it.”

Recently, Reynolds has also taken to LinkedIn, showcasing his entrepreneurial ventures to a growing audience of business-minded professionals. Samantha McKenna, CEO of #samsales, notes that the platform is increasingly attracting celebrities like Reynolds, who are sharing their insights on innovation, marketing, and social impact.

With his creative vision and business prowess, Reynolds is redefining what it means to be a Hollywood star — and now, a force in the Formula 1 world.
