Samsung Accidentally Leaks Galaxy S24 FE Release Date, Price And Features

This story was updated on September 25th with details about the release date.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 FE will reportedly cost more than its predecessor and will release next week, according to new leaks.

The specification news comes from reputable leaker OnLeaks, via Smartprix, who claims that Samsung will up the price of the Galaxy S24 FE in the U.S. to $649 for the 128GB version, and $709 for the 256GB storage model. That is a $50 price hike compared to last year’s Galaxy S23 FE, which launched at $599.

That price hike could be due to the new software promises Samsung is making. Smartprix says that Samsung will offer seven years of Android updates and security patches when it launches the S24 FE. That matches Google’s new(ish) promise on updates and Apple’s unofficial seven-year policy.

We don’t know how many of those promised seven years will be for Android updates or security patches. But considering the Galaxy S24 offers seven years for both, and the rumor that Samsung will do similar for its cheapest A-series devices, then it’s safe to assume that the Korean company will provide the full amount of OS upgrades to the S24 FE.

Supporting devices for that long is expensive and that may be reflected in the new price. The story also mentions that the handset will unsurprisingly launch with Galaxy AI, which Samsung is currently rolling out to millions of older Galaxy devices. That comes with its own cost, although Samsung may end up charging separately for access to its AI toolkit next year.

There’s a good chance that Samsung will drop the Galaxy S24 FE’s price in the near future if the company’s recent aggressive promotions are anything to go by. Expect the Galaxy S24 FE to launch with some generous pre-order deals and some store credit towards a Samsung wearable—a deal the organization likes to wheel out for major launches.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy S24 FE will come equipped with a 4600mAH battery, a 6.7-inch AMOLED Full HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and it’s powered by the Exynos 2400e chip, with 8GB of RAM. The camera loadout is the same as last year’s model, with a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Update September 25th: Samsung has accidentally leaked the Galaxy S24 FE via a now-deleted pre-order page. Samsung published the site yesterday, which was spotted by WinFuture, and then quickly deleted by the Korean company.

The pre-order page confirmed the already leaked specifications, design and most importantly the new price. But it also provided a release date: October 3rd. It’s not clear if that means it will be in people’s hands on that day, or simply available to reserve. Either way, the device will be available soon.

Elsewhere, an unboxing video was shared by tipster Evan Blass, which appears to be Samsung marketing material. The video gives us a good look a the device and again confirms previous specification leaks, including its triple camera setup, IP68 rating and Galaxy AI skills.
