Samsung confirms Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition price, release date

Last updated: October 21st, 2024 at 02:01 UTC+02:00

After a few months of build-up, Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition today. Finally, we now know when the foldable phone is supposed to go on sale in Korea and how much it costs. However, we still have a few questions left unanswered regarding general availability and even specs.

There were rumors that the phone would also be released in China, and the Chinese variant’s pictures leaked just a few hours ago. But Samsung hasn’t revealed details on the Chinese launch. We’ll keep you up to speed if we find out more, but for now, here’s what the company revealed for customers in Korea.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition known availability and pricing details

Samsung confirmed Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sales in South Korea will begin at 9 AM on October 25. Prospective buyers can get it through online stores such as KT, U+, and T Direct Shop, as well as Samsung’s online shop and those of the country’s three mobile carriers: SK Telecom, KT Corporation, and LG U+.

As for pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will go on sale for 2,789,600 won, which translates to roughly $2,036. The device comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage as standard.

For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with 512GB of storage (and 12GB of RAM) is available from Samsung’s online shop in Korea for 2,388,100 won, which translates to about $1,743.

Samsung mentioned only one color option called Black Shadow. The phone’s exterior offers a blend of metal (Armor Aluminum) and glass (Gorilla Glass Victus 2) and has a stripe pattern at the back.

There was no mention of S Pen support in Samsung’s announcement, but once again, we’ll find out more about the device and Samsung’s release plans soon enough.

Will this new foldable be available elsewhere, eventually? Time will tell. And if the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition releases in China or other markets, it will likely do so at different prices. Stay tuned.
