Samsung Galaxy A16 5G announced with record-breaking software support
Samsung has taken the wraps off its Galaxy A16 5G and it brings a few notable upgrades over its predecessor including a larger 6.7-inch display and 6 years of Android version updates alongside 6 years of security patches. That level of software support is unheard of for budget devices and means the A16 5G will be fully supported and running the latest Android until October 31, 2030.

The rest of the specs include an Exynos 1330 in Europe where the A16 5G is listed while other markets like India and Thailand are expected to get the Dimensity 6300 instead.
It is available with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage with external support for microSD cards up to 1.5 TB. Galaxy A16 5G has slimmed down to 7.9 mm and has unfortunately lost its 3.5mm headphone jack.
The phone ships with One UI UI 6.1 based on Android 14 and features a Super AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. There’s a 13MP front-facing camera housed inside a waterdrop notch while the back brings a 50MP main, 5MP ultrawide cam and a 2MP macro lens.
Galaxy A16 5G is IP54-rated for water and dust resistance and gets a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W charging. Samsung France shows the phone features an 8.4/10 repairability score just like the A15 5G. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power key.
Galaxy A16 5G comes in Midnight Blue, Turquoise and Gray colors. The device is listed at €249 in its 4/128GB trim on Samsung France. Shipments are expected to start soon.
