Samsung Health update will let you access medical records
Samsung Health is rolling out an update that lets users see medical records through the same app that records data from your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring. The update also brings expanded medication tracking and improved food tracking.
Over the last few years, the medical industry has seen a surge of more providers offering data through online patient portals like MyChart or b.well Connected Health. Through smartphone apps, users can check on prescriptions, past visits, and further medical records.
Samsung Health is partnering with b.well to integrate those same medical records into the existing Samsung Health app. The Samsung Health app offers a substantial suite of health features, but this integration means it has the potential to be a one-stop shop for medical care.
The Samsung Health app is already in charge of aggreagting data from Samsung’s health tracking wearables, like the Galaxy Watch series or Galaxy Ring. That data is generally brought in and presented in a way that suggests basic health advice.
According to Samsung, the integration will guide “users toward preventative care by offering meaningful insights and alerts that suggest next steps, such as recommending medical tests or actions.”
By offering a holistic view of their health history ─ including vaccination and prescription records, past hospital visits, and even specific test results ─ users can more effectively communicate with their healthcare providers by having their important medical details at their fingertips.
The update is also expanding medication tracking with more availability past the US, such as Korea and India. The expansion also brings a feature that lets users scan pill bottles to input new medication. In the same way, Samsung Health is adding barcode scanning to food tracking.
Medical records, barcode scanning for food, and expanded medication functionality come in an update to the Samsung Health app, which should be rolling out starting today.
