Samsung teases AI summary for One UI 7’s ‘Now Bar,’ powered by ‘Personal Data Engine’

Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy S25 series, which means more AI is about to come our way. In preparation for the new lineup, Samsung is detailing how it plans to ensure user safety with a new Personal Data Engine and a new AI summary feature for the Now Bar in One UI 7.

One UI 7 is currently in a public beta phase, which means anyone with the proper device can install and use it. That new OS is based on Android 15 and brings a ton of new features to the Galaxy series, including something called a Now Bar, which is a new notification system for displaying information that’s permanent to your day.

Samsung announced a new “Personal Data Engine” in preparation for the new series of Galaxy devices. The engine is an enhancement to Knox that “ensures on-device, cross-app personal data protection.” Samsung notes that Knox still stores personalized data under encrypted keys, but the company is also leveraging post-quantum cryptography to future-proof against malicious activity.

The real news that Samsung bundled into its blog post is how your data is bundled into Samsung’s new Now Bar. The Now Bar can take information from all of your apps and securely round it up into an AI summary. Samsung gives the example of packing for a trip, where the Now Bar in One UI 7 will suggest when you should get some sleep and exercise, offer up apps you can use prior to travel, and lay out the forecast for your trip while showcasing recommended playlists.

Samsung says One UI 7’s Now Bar will actively try and give the user suggestions and information based on activity presumably determined by the company’s AI engine. If Samsung can pull this sort of feature off and set it up to work without a hitch in One UI 7 at full release, it would be a huge addition to the Galaxy lineup as a whole.
