Samsung Unveils New Odyssey Gaming Monitors, Featuring The Odyssey OLED G8 & Odyssey OLED G6
Samsung finally unveils a new models of its “Odyssey” gaming monitor lineup, the Odyssey OLED G8 and OLED G6, which features cutting-edge capabilities and AI “goodies.”
Samsung’s OLED G8 Becomes The First “AI-Infused” OLED Monitor, Debuting With Image Upscaling & Much More
Well, the Korean giant’s Odyssey models are indeed a delight to watch and have created a new benchmark for display industry standards. Upon first glance, the Odyssey OLED G9 Neo gaming monitor, which was launched a year ago, seemed like a marvel by the company, but it looks like Samsung’s latest release shares a similar sentiment. The Odyssey OLED G8 and the OLED G6 are two of the firm’s newest releases, targeted at providing consumers with the optimal display, along with cutting-edge AI features to make the best out of the hype.
Diving into the specifications of the new monitors, the Odyssey OLED G8 features a 32-inch 4K UHD resolution panel, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and a speedy 0.03 ms GtG response time. The OLED G6, however, comes with a smaller 27-inch panel but supports a higher refresh rate of 360 Hz. The G6, in this case, is a superior option for hardcore gaming, but if you desire an all-rounder option, the OLED G8 is the way to go.
Now, coming to the more interesting part, Samsung says that its Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor is the company’s first OLED monitor to feature AI capabilities, courtesy of the dedicated NQ8 AI Gen3 processor onboard. It also comes with Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K TV. Through this processor, the OLED G8 is infused with AI-powered “upscaling capabilities,” which allows users to upscale content up to 4K when using native Smart TV applications like the Gaming Hub and many more.
This is the first time we have seen AI upscaling being integrated with a mainstream gaming monitor, and it can play a huge role, especially for hardcore gaming monitors that are natively not that well-equipped in terms of panel quality and resolution. Apart from that, Samsung has also included the OLED Safeguard+ mechanism, a burn-in protection technology that protects your screen by integrating a “pulsating heat pipe” with the panel. This allows for much more effective heat dissipation and ensures longer durability for the OLED screen.
Regarding pricing, Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor is listed at $1,299, while the OLED G6 is going for $899. The pricing is certainly premium, but that is what you would expect with a monitor of this caliber.
