San Antonio gains $1.2B from business relocations, expansions in 2024
SAN ANTONIO – Greater:SATX is a nonprofit organization that focuses on bringing more jobs to San Antonio. The organization’s goal is to bring at least 5,000 more jobs to the area in 2025.
“On the jobs that we’ve worked on, bringing companies to San Antonio, we surpassed 5,000 for the year and more than 16,700 in the last four years,” said Adrian Castillo, a Spokesperson for Greater:SATX.
In 2024, the organization helped several companies relocate or expand in San Antonio.
“This year alone, our projects have yielded $1.2 Billion in capital investment. This is money that companies are investing in San Antonio to build their facilities, to build out office space, and to hire their workforce,” said Castillo.
Business investing money and creating jobs in San Antonio aren’t just domestic, according to Castillo.
“In foreign direct investment, those salaries are about $2 Million a year in salaries and employ about 10,000 people a year and that’s business coming from foreign companies doing business here in San Antonio,” said Castillo.
Part of the reason, Castillo said San Antonio is committed to building an educated workforce.
“We are sending more students to college, per capita, than any other Texas metro. We currently have 170,00 students enrolled in area colleges, universities. Those are students who will graduate with their two or four-year degrees and enter the workforce,” said Castillo.
So, what’s the outlook for 2025? Castillo stressed added flight services, including the newest one to Washington D.C. will help market the city to more employers.
“For companies looking to relocate or expand, there are two things that are top of mind for them: that is workforce and that is air service connectivity. These global companies need the access to travel to where they operate,” said Castillo.
The goal for 2025 is to keep the momentum going and create more high paying jobs by attracting more companies to the city.
“We are looking to have another year like we had this year, which would mean another $1.2 Billion in 2025, and we think we could do that. Again, because eyes are on San Antonio, companies want to be here,” said Castillo.
