Schuster’s Printing brings family-owned business to Cañon City

Service. Quality. Price.

These are three of the pillars that Schuster’s Printing is built on and now the family-owned business has a location in Cañon City, located at 2141 Fremont Drive.

Schuster’s has a long history in Colorado, beginning in Pueblo in 1979 when Jeff Schuster and his father, James, recognized the need for expanded printing services in the area.

“My dad wanted to do something that he had knowledge in … he wanted to keep his family together in a business and now I want to keep my family together,” Schuster said.

The store originally opened with a handful of employees but now boasts 20 employees who have more than 550 years of combined Schuster experience. The years flew by and the shop continued to grow and flourish, but 15 years ago, Schuster began to search for possible locations in Cañon City.

“Whenever I would come to Cañon City, people would say, ‘We love our locals,’ and they are so dedicated to keeping their business local that I knew that … I would eventually want to open up down here,” Schuster said. “And we support local.”

It wasn’t until 2023 that the perfect location became available when the owners of Advanced Weapons advertised their desire to sell and, as of March 1, Schuster’s Printing officially opened.

Along with the opening, Schuster has brought more than 40 years of printing and sales experience to cater to Fremont County residents.

Though the list of services they offer is too long to name here, a short overview includes digital color and black and white copies, business cards, flyers, brochures, mailing services, and much more.

Schuster bought many new, state-of-the-art printing pieces to service Cañon City’s needs, but the locations also sport older equipment, which is rapidly becoming much sought-after.

“We can do it all,” Schuster said. “And if we can’t do it here, we can do it in Pueblo and have it back the next day.”

Schuster and his staff pride themselves on same-day turnaround and, in addition to walk-ins, also welcome “email-ahead” requests. They ask that customers email electronic files with instructions for printing to sam@schustersprinting.com or canoncity@schustersprinting.com, and they will coordinate to have the project ready as early as possible.

“You have to have a quality product,” Schuster said.

Already, Schuster’s has been warmly embraced by the community and, although they have already worked with local businesses throughout Fremont County, they look forward to continuing a variety of services for many years to come.

“We plan on being here for the next 20-plus years,” Schuster said.

Though Schuster is approaching retirement, plans are already in place to pass the reins of leadership down to his son, Zachary Schuster, his brother-in-law Matt Williams, and his nephew, Kragen Cozzolino, all of whom plan to keep the business going for many years to come.

“I want my family to be successful … it’s all about family,” Schuster said.

“We want to give Cañon City what they want in a print shop and be with the community for the next generation,” he added.
