Grab the Tums, Chase has launched a whopper of an offer on its IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card. Starting Sept. 19, 2024, new cardholders have a shot at earning a limited-time best-ever welcome bonus. Those who apply and are accepted for the card can earn up to 200,000 bonus points: Earn 140,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first three months from account opening. Plus, earn 60,000 bonus points after spending a total of $9,000 in the first six months from account opening. Offer ends Oct. 23, 2024.

That’s like Burger King offering four all-beef patties with special sauce, instead of the standard two. The previous offer of 140,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of account opening was already supersized, with the issuer declaring it potentially worth up to four free nights at an IHG property. However, the points you earn on a card to meet the minimum spending requirement will also accrue, giving you an even bigger stash to redeem. This new offer stacks the rewards potential high, for those with big business expenses to meet.

Here’s a couple of examples of what you can do with 200,000 IHG One Rewards.

  • Spend three nights over the Thanksgiving holiday in the heart of Manhattan at the Candlewood Suites, equipped with a full kitchen and walking distance from prime Thanksgiving Day Parade viewing. Then as a cardholder you’ll get a fourth night free.
  • Escape the winter chill for six nights (with two additional award nights free for cardholders) in a junior suite at the all-inclusive oceanfront Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay, Jamaica and still have plenty of points left over for the next adventure. Spend your days floating in the resort’s lazy river and your nights trying to choose which of the resort’s five restaurants you want to eat in that night.

Consider the full menu, not just the bonus

But getting a card for your business spending should be about more than just a big, fat, juicy bonus. The IHG One Rewards Premier Business Card should be on the radar for business owners who travel, long after the welcome bonus. The card made Fortune Recommends’ best credit cards for business list, specifically as the best hotel card for business. Here’s why.

For a modest $99 annual fee, the card earns huge rewards at IHG properties. The card alone earns 10X on IHG spending, 5X total points on travel, dining, select business purchases (social media and search engine advertising and office supply stores) and  gas stations, and 3X points per $1 spent on all other purchases.

That’s impressive but the card serves up even higher rewards added on to the IHG spending. In addition to the 10X on IHG spending, you’ll get another 10X on stays for being an IHG One Rewards member and yet another 6X for being a Platinum Elite member, which is a benefit of owning the card. That makes your total haul when you stay at an IHG property 26 points per $1. Yowza.

Other perks include a free anniversary night worth up to 40,000 points, a fourth night free perk when you redeem points for at least three consecutive nights, a credit every four years to cover the application fee for a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application and purchase protection and trip cancellation insurance.

It’s worth noting that even a side hustle or part-time job can count as a business and it makes things much simpler at tax time if you keep your business credit card spending and personal credit card spending separate.

The rich array of benefits and the heaping serving of bonus points make this an excellent time to apply for the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card. But if you don’t have a need for a business card, it may still be worth considering the personal version of this card, the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, which offers many of the same perks, albeit without the exceptionally large welcome bonus and is also one of the best credit cards for earning IHG One Rewards.
