Scott Foster, Who Dodged Gambling Scandal Despite 200 Calls With Banished NBA Ref, Receives A Heartfelt Request

But just seventeen years ago, in 2007, the NBA was struck by a huge betting scandal by a veteran official named Tim Donaghy that ruined the league’s reputation for a long time. After Donaghy was found guilty of betting on games that he officiated, he was outcasted by the league and even faced prison time. However, another veteran official who was rumored to be involved in the scandal with Donaghy, Scott Foster, dodged the allegations. And in a recent interview, Donaghy made a request to Foster hoping to rekindle their friendship.

In a detailed interview with The Athletic, Donaghy expressed his desire to mend his relationship with Foster who hasn’t talked to him since the 2007 scandal. “I’m hoping at some point when Scott steps away, we can talk. And I can apologize to him. You never know; maybe that friendship can be pieced back together. I’m not sure.” Maybe, Foster parted ways with Tim because he hoped to remain a referee in the NBA and didn’t want to seem involved with the banished referee.

Moreover, when the case was investigated by the FBI, Foster was one of the suspects in the case as he had reportedly made over 200 calls to Donaghy during the span of his fixing days.
