SD Jobs for America’s Graduates celebrates 15th anniversary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – South Dakota Jobs for America’s Graduates celebrated its 15th Anniversary on Monday at Cherapa Place in downtown Sioux Falls.

SDJAG is a state-based nonprofit that serves youth who face significant challenges. The program helps these students to graduate high school and meaningfully enter postsecondary and the workforce.

They announced Vermillion, Brookings, and Wilmot, Minnesota, will become JAG schools this upcoming school year and a $300,000 grant donation from Wellmark to support their programs.

“It’s a story where students might have barriers to having a successful outcome. It really helps them overcome that, being able to expand JAG throughout South Dakota will just do more to improve students’ lives after school, but also have more students that are ready, able and willing to enter the workforce afterward,” said JAG Chairman of Advisory Board Chris Daugaard.

One of Monday afternoon’s speakers, Chad Johnson of Lyman, will be receiving the American Legion National Educator of the Year in August.
