Seán McGirr’s Alexander McQueen, As Seen on the Red Carpet

It’s been almost a year since Seán McGirr showed his inaugural collection for Alexander McQueen. Since his fall 2024 offering, inspired by Lee McQueen’s spring 1995 collection, McGirr has brought celebrities like Lana Del Rey, Emma Corrin, Sydney Sweeney, and even Meryl Streep into the fold.

McGirr has crafted red carpet looks in the image of the house’s namesake, like the woodland look Del Rey wore to the 2024 Met Gala—“Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”—a reference to McQueen’s fall 2006 collection. But over the past year, he has also shown us his own take on celebrity style.

The Irish designer has found muses in celebrities who fit into his grungy-glam universe. Among them is Corrin, who opted for a high-neck sheer butter yellow dress from spring 2025 to the London premiere of Nosferatu. Caroline Polachek wore not one but two looks from the same collection, showing up in a strong-shouldered black coat with a white ruffley panel to the GQ Man of the Year Awards, and a sheer beaded dress with a dramatic drop waist and open back to the Fashion Awards.

McGirr is quickly becoming a red carpet presence, dressing stars for press, premieres, and awards shows. We can only imagine that the 2025 awards season will only bring in more star-studded moments. Below, take a look at Seán McGirr’s Alexander McQueen, as seen on celebrities.
