Selena Quintanilla and Jenni Rivera’s stars on Hollywood Walk of Fame vandalized

LOS ANGELES — The Hollywood Walk of Fame stars of Tejano singers Selena Quintanilla and Jenni Rivera were vandalized twice this week. The vandalism comes just weeks after Rivera’s star was unveiled.

The stars were first defaced on Monday morning, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

On Tuesday, the stars were vandalized yet again.

Numerous fans took it upon themselves to clean up the stars, which were covered in black paint.

Rivera’s star was awarded posthumously in a ceremony on June 27 that included guest speaker Gloria Trevi and Rivera’s children Jacqie, Johnny, Chiquis, Jenicka and Michael. Rivera died in a plane crash in 2012.

Quintanilla’s star was added in 2017, 22 years after she was shot and killed by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar.

Both Mexican American powerhouse singers were at the top of their genre in their own right. Rivera was known as “La Diva De La Banda” while Quintanilla remains the “Queen of Tejano Music.”
