Senn Brothers Produce bringing operation to Jasper County; 19 new jobs planned

Senn Brothers Produce recently announced it has plans to operate in Jasper County with 19 new jobs planned. The facility will be located in the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park in Ridgeland.

A produce company which established it roots 80 years ago will now plant a new operation in Jasper County.

Senn Brothers Produce will invest $2.9 million within the county and create 19 new jobs, a Southern Carolina Regional Development Alliance press release said. The new facility will be based in the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park in Ridgeland and have cold storage and office space to allow for expanded service to the Hilton Head and Savannah markets.

“We welcome Senn Brothers Produce to Jasper County and thank them for their investment and the new jobs they are creating,” Jasper County Council Chairman Marty Sauls said. “Jasper County Council looks forward to providing the most business-friendly environment so that Senn Brothers Produce and other industries can flourish and grow here in our community.”

The business, founded in 1944 and based in West Columbia, is a family-owned distributor of locally sourced produce. The company, the news release said, delivers fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables sourced from local farmers and producers. Operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

Senn Brothers Produce President Gregg Senn said the growth in the Lowcountry was what led to the company recognizing the need for a locally owned South Carolina produce distributor.

“Not only will Senn provide produce for end users but one of our goals is to make it easier for farmers in the area to get their products to market,” Senn said. “We are looking forward to building a strong agricultural distribution network that will benefit South Carolina.”

Southern Carolina Regional Development Alliance CEO Danny Black said the company will be an asset and a terrific fit for the surrounding business community.

“Every job Senn Brothers Produce creates here improves the quality of life for a local family,” Black said. “We are grateful that they chose the Southern Carolina region, and we look forward to working with them.”

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster said the announcement was further proof that agribusiness in the state continues to flourish.

“We congratulate Senn Brothers Produce on this $2.9 million investment and look forward to the impact these 19 new jobs will have in Jasper County,” McMaster said.

South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III said he was happy Senn Brothers Produce is growing its presence in South Carolina and building on the strength of its thriving agribusiness industry.

“This new operation in Jasper County will expand the company’s reach and create meaningful opportunities for the people of our state,” he said.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development, the news release said, awarded a $75,000 Set-Aside grant to Jasper County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction.

“Senn Brothers’ expansion, supported by a Growing Agribusiness Fund grant, will provide more opportunities for farmers in our state and connect more people to local food,” South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers said. “I’m proud of the continued success and service of this homegrown South Carolina company.”

The announcement is the second in the past few months for businesses planning to locate in the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park. TICO Manufacturing announced in October it was investing $1.6 million and adding 38 jobs at the park. The manufacturing and repair operation includes converting TICO terminal diesel trucks to electric.
