Shelee’s travel center brand debuts in California

As the first of four planned locations, this 12,000-square-foot location is equipped with 59 fueling positions and a coffee shop.

Shelee’s, a new travel center brand owned by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, has officially opened its first location in Coachella, California.

According to a LinkedIn post by Gary Fletcher, executive director of travel centers for the tribe, the 12,000-square-foot facility marks the debut of a new era for the tribe’s retail ventures. Apart from its Kupi Coffee Shop, the brand expects to expand the site with a truck wash, truck repair facility, and a trucker lounge by early 2025.

“Embodying the Chemehuevi ideals of patience, survival, stamina, and courage, Shelee represents the spirit and sacred essence of the Chemehuevi people,”  explained Fletcher.

This Coachella location boasts 59 fueling positions, with 36 under the auto canopy and 15 under the truck canopy, designed to accommodate a wide range of vehicles. The tribe plans to open three more sites on Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indian Reservation land across California.
