Sheriff warns women about potential drugs in drinks at Columbia sports bar

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating reports from women who said they were drugged at a sports bar near Williams-Brice Stadium.

The sheriff’s department said three different women have reported being drugged at this location recently.

A news release from the sheriff’s department said deputies were flagged down by a woman on Halloween night around 11 p.m. who said she believed her friend was roofied at TLC Sports Bar on South Stadium Road. The friend was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

A few hours later, deputies were dispatched to a local hospital where another woman said she may have been drugged at the same bar.

“The details of these two recent events are very similar, prompting RCSD to issue a public safety announcement about possible narcotics being dispensed in alcoholic beverages at the location.”

As deputies continued to investigate and review previous cases, they found another report on Sept. 13 where another woman believed she was drugged at TLC Sports Bar and Grill and was sent to a local hospital.

“Always be aware of your surroundings and never leave your drinks unattended”, Sheriff Lott said in a news release. “In everyone one of these instances the victims were with friends who were able to get them help, but it could have had greater consequences.”
