Shine 2.0 wind turbine generates energy from just a gentle breeze

The quest for round-the-clock renewable energy generation is being undertaken by many, and Aurea Technologies seems to have somewhat achieved this with its Shine 2.0 portable wind turbine.

It can function all day long, and even at nights, as it just needs an eight miles per hour (12.7 km per hour) breeze to function, something which shouldn’t be much of a problem for most of the locations around the globe.

That’s just the minimum speed which the small wind turbine needs to function; it can sustain even stronger winds with ease and provide enough power to charge your smartphones, laptop, and more gadgets.

The other big benefit is that it can generate energy in all types of climatic conditions, and in all kinds of locations.

The makers promote it as the perfect accompanying energy provider for off-grid activities like camping.

Shine 2.0 benefits

Weighing just three pounds (1.5 kilograms), Shine 2.0 has a power rating of 50 watts. It also comes with a 3.7 volt, 12,000 mAh lithium-ioninternal battery which can store power for long durations.

It has a USB-C PD port that outputs up to 75 W to rapidly charge your devices while operating or stowed.

The turbine can power large electronics such as laptops, drones, and other 12V devices. Further it can also charge popular power stations like Jackery, EcoFlow, and Bluetti to create the perfect power setup.

The most important feature is its small size, and the fact that it can easily fold into a lightweight, rugby-ball like package which measures just 13.75 inch. The package is the size of a water bottle, which can be easily carried in a backpack.

Moreover, the company states that when wind speed doubles Shine’s power output increases eight times, resulting in more energy. It comes with a standard 6 feet mount accessory, which puts the device over most common interruptions it can face during operations.

The device also has a Bluetooth-connected app that can tell users the wind speed, energy generation, battery status of the device, and more.

Innovation behind the device

The makers state that they took note of the customer’s feedback they received for Shine 1.0, the earlier variant.

Therefore, they increased the power output, and introduced even larger device compatibility without increasing the weight of the new variant.

Shine 2.0 can operate between wind speeds of eight to 28 mph (13 to 45 kmph), it can also function smoothly between temperatures of 32 to 104 degree Fahrenheit.

It comes with IP54 rating, and produces maximum noise of 50 decibels. The blades of the wind turbine easily fold onto the aerodynamic device body, and it also has automatic yaw – which allows the turbine to turn itself into the wind.

The product is currently listed on Kickstarter, and it has already surpassed its goal of raising $22,058.

Aurea Technologies describes it as, “The world’s first portable wind turbine that has all the functionality of a large wind turbine, scaled down to fit in your backpack. With Shine you can generate power anytime, anywhere the wind blows.”
