Shooting at Charlotte sports bar leaves 1 seriously hurt on New Year’s Day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A person was seriously hurt after they were shot at a sports bar in west Charlotte early on New Year’s Day.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. at Mr. C’s on West Morehead Street, right off I-77 and about half a mile from Bank of America Stadium.

Medic said the person was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting or if anyone has been arrested.

Police were seen inside the restaurant afterward, and furniture and trash looked to have been strewn across the front patio.

Several Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers responded and were investigating.

Elsewhere in west Charlotte, another person was shot around the same time at an Exxon gas station on Remount Road, right at the intersection of West Boulevard. That person also had life-threatening injuries.
