Shooting in Front of Planet Fitness in Portland: One Injured, Suspect Found Dead

PORTLAND, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News): Authorities are releasing more information regarding a shooting incident that occurred this afternoon, July 24th, in front of Planet Fitness in Portland TN.  According to officials, one person was shot, reportedly in the face but is expected to survive according to sources.

Officials say the shooter left the scene and took their own life. Reportedly, the shooter was found in Kentucky in a vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Preliminary reports suggest the shooter and victim may not have known each other, indicating a possible random act of violence, but we are still waiting for authorities to confirm. The shooting victim was taken to Skyline Medical Center and is expected to survive. No other injuries or damages have been reported.

There are no immediate indications of an ongoing threat to the community.
