Shopping cart benefits children, adults with special needs

PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) – A retailer is ensuring it offers accessible options for more people to shop.

The Paragould Walmart Supercenter on West Kingshighway is offering a new type of shopping cart known as Caroline’s Cart, which is designed to help caregivers of special needs children and adults by eliminating the struggle of pushing the cart.

Employee Lee Partee said the adjustable straps not only help with making it easier to get around, but they are also more comfortable for the user.

“You can adjust the straps, to larger whatever size you need,” Partee said.

Additionally, the cart is equipped with a lock system for added safety.

“They’re a godsend for our store we’re hoping when the word gets out, it will be so busy with these that we will have to order more,” Partee said.

“That was good to add the lock system to it so there will not be any accidents or mistakes happening to keep them safe and keep them sturdy,” Employee Tommie Starnes said.

Paragould resident Tracy Yandell said she is excited about the addition, emphasizing the benefits it will bring to many people.

“I think this is great that we have it here in my hometown, they need them everywhere and lots and lots of people are going to benefit from it,” Yandell said.

Partee said she is looking forward to customer feedback on the carts.

“You come to the service desk and tell us how you like it,” Partee said.
