Shuttle from Toledo to Detroit airport launches ahead of holiday travel season
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – When visiting his sister in Los Angeles earlier this year, Daniel Nunez ran into a problem.
“I was looking for options to get to the airport and none of them really worked out too well,” Nunez said. “In Los Angeles, where she lives, there are so many options for getting in between the airport and the city that I figured Toledo should have something like that.”
Now Nunez is offering a solution, in the form of a bright green bus and his first business: Froggy Transportation.
“It was great. He was right on time,” a Froggy Transportation customer, Lorna, said. “As far as looking for transportation services from the airport to Toledo, I haven’t found any. So, this is a needed service most definitely.”
Nunez offers trips from Toledo to the Detroit Airport three times a day. He picks customers up and drops them off in the Franklin Park Mall parking lot, near the TARTA bus stop on Royer Road. He charges $32 for a one-way trip and $60 for a two-way. Seniors and students are eligible for discounts.
The I-Team decided to see how Froggy Transportation compares to the competition. According to Uber’s website, a trip from Toledo to the Detroit Airport would cost around $70 dollars just one way. Meanwhile, a Greyhound bus is significantly cheaper, about $25, but doesn’t go directly to the airport. Black and White Transportation, a local taxi service, says it costs around $144.
“I hope that people can feel that the airport is now more accessible than ever and they know they can get there without breaking the bank or without any kind of major inconvenience,” Nunez said.
