SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business visited to talk about growth at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport and a well-known downtown building receiving a facelift.

The Sioux Falls Regional Airport is positioning itself for potentially a big expansion.

Design is being finalized on an addition to the concourse that would bring at least five or six more gates. That will support the airport’s ability to manage its current flights, as well as potentially bring in others.

If a sixth one can fit the budget, that also could allow for future international flights.

Of course, it all depends on funding. The hope is for a combination of federal and state funds plus revenue bonds for the project. If budget allowed, the concourse expansion also could be broadened to bring in more seating and additional food and beverage options.

The hope is to hear on funding later this year, with potentially some work starting next year.

In the meantime, the parking ramp project is on track for a September opening, and so far, the airport is trending above its record year last year for passenger travel.

A well-known downtown building is getting a big facelift. A building on West 10th Street has been home to Club David for years. Its new owners are the group behind Parker’s and Icon Lounge with a big commitment to historic preservation.

They’ve already made a lot of progress on the exterior, bringing in windows to create a more storefront look.

And from there, inside will get a top-to-bottom renovation.

The hope is to offer the main floor for special events and then upstairs along with the popular deck will offer significantly more food options than in the past.

They’re still finalizing the menu and say it will be different from their other downtown restaurants.

The plan is to keep the building open throughout construction, and you should see it substantially complete by later this year.
