NEW MIDDLETOWN — United, highlighted by the boys sprint crew, captured six first places at the Springfield Division III district track and field meet Friday.

United sophomore Cayden Pitts won the boys 100-meter dash (11.33 seconds) and joined Kollyn Wells, Mason Laibe and Danny Milburn on the winning 400 relay team (44.24) and Braden Schwartz, Wells and Milburn on the winning 800 relay team (1:31.90).

United senior Wyatt Medure also won the 800 run (2:00.40).

The United girls had two district champions as senior Kylie Stoffer won the discus (112-feet-3) and freshman Brinsley Hiscox was first in the 100 hurdles (15.36) and third in the 300 hurdles (49.04).

The United boys finished third in the team standings, as did Crestview in the girls standings.

Crestview’s Marissa Smith Sophia Lewis Tasia Jordan Phiatra Bradley were first in the 400 relay (51.60) and second in the 800 relay (1:51.67)

Heartland Christian had a pair of distance champions. Sophomore Rebecca Geiss was first in the girls 1600 run (5:09.64) and 3200 run (11:49.58), while junior Sawyer Szabo was first in the boys 3200 run (10:01.77).

Southern freshman Kiah Sloan was first in the girls long jump (16-9 1/2) and fourth in the 100 dash (12.95).

The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional meet at Norwayne High School on May 22 and 24.

Other girls regional qualifiers are Southern sophomore Maddy Jones, second in the discus (103-7); United junior Mary Boston, second (16-0 1/4) and Crestview senior Karagin Miller, fourth (15-1) in the long jump; Crestview sophomore Adri Hodge, third in the 1600 run (5:32.46), fourth in the 800 run (2:27.55) and fourth in the 3200 run (12:48.95); Crestview senior Bailey Wonner, third in the 400 dash (64.16); Heartland senior Rylee Shadowens, third in the 800 run (2:27.13); and Heartland sophomore Sayde Szabo, fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.92) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (49.22).

Three other girls relay teams also advanced. United’s 400 relay team of Katie Dees, Aubrey Benner, Hiscox and Boston was second (51.94); Southern’s 800 relay team of Gianna Rodgers, Maleah Rose, Alyssa Rodgers and Sloan was fourth (1:54.78); and Heartland’s 1600 relay team of Sayde Szabo Lorelei Phillips, Shadowens and Geiss was fourth (4:27.02).

Boys regional qualifiers include Columbiana junior Liam Surgenavic, second in the 100 dash (11.50) and third in the 200 dash (23.33); Milburn, second in the 200 dash (22.97); Columbiana seniors Anthony Gaglione and Santino Gaglione, third (4:42.07) and fourth (4:48.36) in the 1600 run; Wellsville junior Tyrell Watkins, third in the 110 hurdles (16.10); Columbiana senior Maddox Brown, third in the high jump (5-10); Southern senior Logan Redfern, fourth in the 3200 run (10:27.15); the Columbiana 400 relay team of Coleman Bacon, Parker Bush, Aidan Radcliff and Surgenavic was third (44.90); and the Columbiana 1600 relay tem of Surgenavic, Bush, Radcliff and Ian Less was third (3:30.64).
