Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center closes for maintenance

Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center in Charlottesville has closed for its annual maintenance. 

The facility in the city’s Fifeville neighborhood will remain closed to the public until Aug. 13.

In the interim, pool passes will be honored at Carver Recreation Center in Starr Hill and the city’s outdoor pools at Washington Park in Rose Hill and Onesty Family Aquatic Center at Meade Park in Woolen Mills.

Carver Recreation Center at 233 4th St. NW is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The pools at Washington Park, at 1001 Preston Ave., and Onesty Family Aquatic Center, at 300 Meade Ave., are open every day 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

At Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center, “the pools and locker rooms will re-open at 7:00 am on Wednesday, August 14th,” the city’s Parks & Recreation Department said in a statement announcing the maintenance.

When it is open, the Smith facility offers competitive and leisure pools, water slides and a lazy river as well as exercise programs for guests.
