Smith Aquatics & Fitness Center Pool closed for annual maintenance
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Pool goers should be advised that the Smith Aquatics & Fitness Center Pool in Charlottesville will be closed July 29 through August 13 for the pool’s annual maintenance.
The maintenance includes preventative measure to protect the pool’s pumps that keep it operational. Such work cannot be conducted during regular operational hours.
Director of Parks and Recreation Riaan Anthony said the timing of the closure was intentionally selected.
“Every year we strategically look at our schedule, so we have the least impact,” Anthony said. “We chose these two weeks because it’s low impact. It is between classes. We only have a handful of aerobics classes, and those aerobics classes will be moved to Washington Park Pool.”
Until the pool is reopened, pool passes will be accepted at Carver Recreational Center and at the outdoor pools.
