Sofía Vergara doesn’t want more kids. Here’s why

Sofia Vergara doesn’t want more kids. But that line isn’t as simple as you’d read it because she doesn’t want to have any of her own kids anymore. 

Conscious of her age and the phase of life she’s in at the moment, Sofia doesn’t want to be an old mom.

In a recent interview, she revealed that her relationship with ex Joe Manganiello broke up for this very reason, since he’s a young man and wanted kids but Sofia doesn’t want any of her own. 

Speaking to People for its cover issue this week, Sofia said that now she’s broken up with Joe, she is okay trying her hand at love again but the man will have to get his own kids because she’s not interested in being an old mom in the age of her being a grandmom. 

The Griselda star said, “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom.”

She added, “I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children.”

She expanded on that and said, “I wish I was older sometimes because I would’ve been more mature, more prepared to be a mother, but that was what I got and what happened. So I just kept going and try not to look back at it, because it is what it is. But it is fun because I kind of grew up together with my son.”

She explained that sometimes there are things in life that sound like a good idea, and they’re not. For her, that was being a mother at 50.

She added, “I know what it means to be a good mother or to try to be the best mother that you can, and that takes a lot of sacrifices, takes a lot of energy.”

She has no problems with women who want to be a mom at the age of 50 but she doesn’t want to be in that club, for sure.

She said, “I totally respect where anyone wants to be a mom after 50. I didn’t think because of my career, the way I live my life, the way my marriage was, that it was fair to bring a kid to this world, and I’m not going to be able to give 100 percent.”

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello got divorced in July 2023. They were married for seven years.
