Sony Announces PSOne Style PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro as Part of 30th Anniversary Collection – IGN
Sony has announced a limited edition PSOne style PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and more as part of a 30th Anniversary Collection.
The collection was revealed in a video from PlayStation, below, which also revealed a limited edition DualSense, DualSense Edge, and PlayStation Portal. Preorders for all products begin September 26 and will be released on November 21.
The PS5 Pro bundle is likely the most limited edition, with only 12,300 units available worldwide. The bundle comes with the PS5 Pro itself, a vertical stand, a charging station, and the DualSense Edge controller and case, all in the classic PlayStation style. It also comes with an original PlayStation controller style cable connector, four cable ties styled after the sacred symbols, and a sticker, poster, and paperclip.
The other console available is a PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition but it does come with a matching disc drive cover for those wanting to use discs on the retro themed console (but the disc drive still needs bought separately). It also comes with a regular DualSense controller, vertical stand, and the original PlayStation controller style cable connector, four cable ties styled after the sacred symbols, sticker, poster, and paperclip.
Sony didn’t share a price for any items in the collection, but fans not looking to drop a ton of money will be relieved to know the DualSense controller will be available separately, alongside the DualSense Edge.
Preorders will be available through PlayStation Direct on the aforementioned September 26 date to those with a PlayStation Network account, according to the PlayStation Blog. Participating retailers will also offer preorders for the DualSense controller on September 26 and the PS5 Digital Edition on October 10. Those looking to preorder in countries where PlayStation Direct is not available can do so at participating retailers on September 26.

The collection is reminiscent of one Sony released for 20th anniversary of PlayStation, which saw a PS4 wrapped in the classic colors.
PlayStation revealed the PS5 Pro at a Technical Presentation held September 10 alongside the $699.99 price tag. The standard PS5 Pro does not include a disc drive or vertical stand, which means those looking to use discs and stand their PS5 Pro upright will need to spend around $805.
Fans have expressed shock at the price, and myriad IGN polls suggest as few as 15% of people plan to buy a PS5 Pro. In a questionnaire asking if the console is reasonably priced, with more than 50,000 responses, 73.9% of responders said it was way too expensive.
