Former 7-Elevens Become Convenience Stores

Two former 7-Elevens stores in South Baltimore have transitioned to local brands. The former 7-Eleven at 1111 Light St. in Federal Hill, which closed in 2021, recently reopened as Snackers. The owner has several other convenience stores in the city.

Snackers opening is one of several changes at the 1111 Light Street apartment, office, and retail complex in Federal Hill. The fourth-floor office space was recently converted to six loft apartments, and national engineering firm Mead & Hunt also recently signed a 3,000 sq. ft. lease.

The 7-Eleven at 705 Washington Blvd. closed and quickly reopend as BaltiMart. BaltiMart is part of a shopping Center with Dollar General, Tony’s, Grill, and Zips Dry Cleaning.

Batter Up Diner Has Closed

Batter Up Diner has closed at Cross Street Market. The diner, which opened in April, took over over the fully-enclosed 2,000 sq. ft. space on the Light Street end of the market that was previously Velleggia’s and the Rooster + Hen farm store.

New Deli in Pigtown

Philadelphia Hoagie Factory opened in recent months at 775 Washington Blvd. in Pigtown. The menu offers Philadelphia favorites such Italian hoagies, Italian roast pork, cheesesteaks, chicken cutlet, and roast beef. The menu also offers salads, a large hot dog menu, and a soup du jour.

Philly Hoagie Factory is open every day from 11am to 8pm.

Greater Baybrook Alliance Announces Grant

Greater Baybrook Alliance, a nonprofit that supports Brooklyn, Brooklyn Park, and Curtis Bay, has announced it has received a new grant. From its Facebook page:

GBA is proud to announce we received $21,000 from the Bank of America!

This grant will allow us to expand our capacity to provide culturally competent outreach and business technical assistance.

Under Armour’s ‘Armour Day’ Provides Service to Digital Harbor

Under Armour’s annual Armour Day has become a day of community service for the companyin the Baltimore. This year almost 1,000 Under Armour employees participated various volunteer efforts.

One of the Armour Day volunteer sites was Digital Harbor High School in Federal Hill. Under Armour employees performed landscaping improvements at the community garden on site and hosted career panels in English and Spanish.
