The race for top spot in district 12 was in full swing on the courts as the four top teams faced each other on Thursday, September 26, in Class B volleyball action.

Our Redeemer’s 3, Bishop Ryan 0

In a battle of top level teams in district 12, the Lions made the trip across the river to face the Knights in the ‘Holy War’ between Bishop Ryan and Our Redeemer’s Christian School. The home team won 25-8, 25-18 and 25-20 for the edge in standings.

The Knights used home gym energy to jump to the early frame one win before the Lions acclimated and pushed frames two and three into closer action. These teams will likely face each other in postseason play.

The Knights were led by Olivia Ebel who tallied 15 digs enroute to 1,500 digs for her career so far. She also had three aces in the effort. Grace Olson had five aces, 26 assists and nine digs while Mikayla Altringer had nine kills and two blocks for the Our Redeemer’s. Brooklyn Roedocker had six kills as well in the win.

The Lions were led by Alena Johannsen with seven kills while Anne Fricke added six kills and two blocks. Cambrie Johannes had 11 assists and 11 digs in the effort. Haylee Schwan had six assists, two aces and nine digs for Bishop Ryan on the night.

South Prairie-Max 3,

Des Lacs-Burlington 0

The top four teams from district 12 faced each other between South Prairie-Max, Our Redeemer’s, Bishop Ryan and Des Lacs-Burlington. The Royals hosted the Lakers and won a tight contest 25-22, 27-25 and 25-22 in the battle.

South Prairie-Max was led by Azjiah Trader with 17 kills, ten digs and three blocks. Skotti Beck had 11 kills while Skylar Beck added six. Reagan Trudell recorded an impressive 39 assists and two aces. Delaney Hankel had 11 digs in the effort. Abby Mikkelson had four blocks in the win as well.

The Lakers were led by Logen Ystaas with 12 kills and 24 digs while Piper Feller added 11 kills with 15 digs. Kaylee Werner had 27 assists to go with her 18 digs. Hope Walen had one block while Ava Brown had two ace serves.

Drake-Anamoose 3, Bottineau 2

In a tightly competitive match, the home team won over the visiting Braves 22-25, 25-18, 15-25, 25-22 and 16-11 for the Lady Raiders.

Mariah Mack had 21 kills and 14 digs for the home team while Shaylee Hase added 13 kills and one ace. KaKayla Miller had six kills to go with her two blocks at the net. Olivia Hahy had 23 assists and an ace as well. Evelyn Isaak had 14 digs and five kills while Bella Boucher added 18 assists in the win.

Bottineau was led by Kyra Beckman with 23 kills at the net with 13 digs in the effort. Gracee Hann had 17 assists and two aces while Avery Kieth added 15 assists of her own. Kaia Hennings had ten blocks at the net while Josie Wintermute added nine. Kaitlin Moen had 19 digs in the effort.

Bismarck Legacy 3,

Minot North 0

The visiting Sabers swept the hosting Sentinels 25-19, 25-21 and 25-11 to add a buffer in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) standings.

Bismarck Century sits atop the list with a 9-0, 13-2 record. Bismarck High is at 8-1, 10-5 in second while Minot High is at 7-1, 8-6 with Bismarck Legacy just next at 7-2, 9-6 for the year. Dickinson at 5-4, 8-7 is now in front of Minot North at 5-4,6-9 while Williston is just behind the Sentinels at 4-5, 5-10 for the year.

Surrey 3, Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 2

Surrey took a two frame lead, then needed a fifth frame to catch the hosting Mavericks 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 19-25 and 15-11 in a tightly fought battle.

TGU 3, Velva 2

The hosting Titans needed all five frames to defeat the visiting Aggies 23-25, 16-25, 25-29, 26-24 and 15-9 on the hardwood.

Kenmare-Bowbells 3, Tioga 0

The Honkers traveled to face the Pirates and took the 25-15, 26-24 and 25-16 at Tioga.

Beulah 3, Mott-Regent 1

Beulah hosted Mott-Regent and protected their home court with the 25-19, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-21 win.

Nedrose 3,

Newburg-Westhope 1

The Cardinals made the trip north to face the Eagles and came home with the 25-20, 16-25, 25-16 and 25-19 win.
