Southeastern Travels to Nebraska – Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball team will suit up for its first road test of the season Saturday at 1 p.m. to take on Nebraska at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
 
The game between Southeastern (1-0) and No. 23 Nebraska (1-0) will be televised on a paid subscription of the B1G+ network. The Lady Lions gained its first win of the season with a dominant 79-45 victory over Milsaps Monday evening at home. Senior Taylor Bell led the team with 15 points in 18 minutes, shooting 71.4 percent from the field 5-7 from the stripe. Alexius Horne and Cheyanne Daniels also contributed double-digit scoring for Southeastern tied with 14 points. Daniels and Nicholls transfer Lexi Alexander also tied to lead the team with nine rebounds.
 
Southeastern’s defense forced the Majors into 29 turnovers in its season opener and claimed 50-points in the paint to secure its 34-point win. SLU will be battle tested seeking its first road win of the 2024-25 season against a ranked power five opponent.
 
Nebraska (1-0) secured an 88-48 victory over Omaha in its season opener at home. Six players from the Huskers contributed double-digit scoring led by Reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Natalie Potts and Lisa Leslie Watch List nominee Alexis Markowski tied with 14 points. Markowski also led the team with 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season alongside Logan Nissley and Petra Bozan that followed up with 12 points. Freshman Britt Prince gained quality minutes for Nebraska and dished out five assists to lead the team in its victory.
 
Last season, the Huskers finished 23-12 overall and 11-7 in conference play with a huge 82-79 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes midway in the season. Nebraska heavily relied on center Markowski in the paint last season who led the Huskers averaging 15.7 points per game and 10.5 rebounds. Potts is another weapon for Nebraska on both sides of the floor averaging 10.2 points per game, 5.5 rebounds and led the team with 26 blocks.
 
Concluding Saturday’s game, the Lady Lions will return back home to host Southern Mississippi Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. Friday’s game versus the Golden Eagles will be televised on ESPN+.
