Special Olympics Torch Run travels through Springfield on Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Law enforcement officers across the Ozarks ran a leg of the Special Olympics Torch Run.

The torch run traveled through Springfield on Tuesday. The torch Jordan Valley Park to Park Central Square. The Torch Run has become an annual tradition.

” It helps us get back into why we do this job, and especially with Special Olympics, our athletes here love to see the officers, especially in uniform, and they know how much we support them,” said Master Sgt. Jeff Fugett of the Missouri Highway Patrol. “You know we’re raising over $1 million a year for the Special Olympics just as law enforcement agencies here in Missouri.”

The Missouri Special Olympics begin on May 31 in Columbia.
