Spectrum to close customer service operation in Columbus, lay off 175 workers

Cable and internet company Spectrum is telling the state that it is closing a customer service operation in Columbus and that 175 workers will lose their jobs as a result.
The cuts will start Aug. 15, and are expected to be permanent, the company said.
Spectrum said in a statement Friday that affected workers will be allowed to apply for other Spectrum jobs.
“Our goal is to retain as much talent and experience as possible. Employees at our Dublin Road center may transfer with relocation benefits to other Spectrum customer service centers and are encouraged to apply for any open position within the company for which they are qualified,” the company said in a statement. “Employees who do not have a role with the company once the center closes will be entitled to comprehensive severance benefits.”
Spectrum said its call center operations at Dublin Road will be moved to other Spectrum call centers in the U.S.
Charter says the entire facility at 1600 Dublin Road will not be closed as a result of this decision.
Spectrum serves more than 2.8 million customers across the state.
