Spirit World closing its doors after 50 years serving Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An Aksarben staple is closing. Spirit World announced Monday it will be closing its doors in early 2025, after 50 years in business.
Spirit World has been in business since 1975, it expects to close its door in mid-January. First Alert 6 received the message sent out in their newsletter.
It reads, in part: “It has been a pleasure sharing our knowledge and passion for quality wine and spirits with the Omaha community for 50 years. As a locally owned, family-owned business, we thank you for your patronage and support.”
First Alert 6 spoke with customer Nicole Ray who was sad to see the business leave. Nicole has visited the location a few times after catching events at the Baxter Arena. She tells First Alert 6 she was sad to see the business make its way out of Aksarben, especially as she’s seen more of her favorite restaurants and small businesses closing their doors too.
“I think ever since COVID hit, people are just kind of tending to do things more at home or not socializing as much,” said Ray.
Nicole says her experiences in Spirit World were always good and she enjoys their selection.
“It was nice during the summer, we would sit out on the patio and everybody was super knowledgeable,” said Ray. “It was always a great experience.”
Nicole tells First Alert 6 she does plan to visit the location a few more times before it closes in mid-January, after the holidays.
