Sports briefs: Tiburon’s MacLean places fourth at U-20 Championships
Former Redwood High standout Audrey MacLean of Tiburon placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Track & Field under-20 Championships in Eugene, Ore. earlier this week.
MacLean, a freshman who runs for Middlebury College, finished with a time of 10 minutes, 36.95 seconds — her fourth consecutive race finishing in under 10:40.
MacLean’s efforts throughout the season earned her New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Rookie of the Year honors in both track and cross country. MacLean won conference titles in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters during the league campaign this spring.
While at Redwood, MacLean was one of the top distance runners in the county, finishing second in both the 1,600 and the 3,200 during her senior season in 2023. MacLean won the MCAL cross country title as a junior and finished second as a senior. MacLean also finished sixth in the 2023 Dipsea Race.
