Balderas to box at Chumash Casino
Santa Maria native Karlos Balderas will make his Chumash Casino boxing debut when he goes against Gilberto Espinoza of Tijuana June 7 at 6:30 p.m.
The fight is the co-main event on a Hollywood Fight Nights boxing card. The lightweight bout is scheduled for eight rounds.
The fight will be Balderas’ first in California in five years.
Balderas competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He is 14-2 as a professional, with 12 wins by knockout. Espinoza is 13-2.
Volleyball
Cabrillo volleyball youth summer camp
The Cabrillo volleyball program will host a summer volleyball camp for players ages 10-14 and entering fifth-through-ninth grade in the fall of 2024.
The camp will take place at the Cabrillo High School gym from June 17-19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The camp is designed to teach campers basic volleyball skills, and campers will have opportunity for team play.
Enrollment for the camp is limited.

Little League championships schedule set
Here is the schedule for the upcoming Elks Orcutt/Santa Maria Little League Championships. The Major Division and Minor Division teams will follow the same schedule.
Wednesday, June 5: Santa Maria Northside representatives vs. Santa Maria Westside representatives, Westside site, Oakley School. Opening ceremonies start at 5 p.m., first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Hancock announces 2024 clinic dates
The Hancock College baseball program will offer two clinic sessions during the month of June.
The first will take place June 10-13. The second will take place June 17-20. Both sessions are open to players ages six-13 and are scheduled to take place on John Osborne Field from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.
Registration is $150 per participant for a single session or $250 per participant for both sessions. Families planning to register more than one participant can receive a $25 discount per camper by choosing the “Multi-Family Discount” option at registration.
Participants will receive instruction from current and former Hancock baseball personnel in skill areas which include swinging fundamentals, fielding techniques, pitching mechanics and throwing fundamentals.
Online registration can be completed at ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing and will remain open until June 7 or until all available spots are filled. Individuals should contact Hancock coach Chris Stevens with questions related to specific clinic activities.
Fall ball season sponsored
The Santa Maria Indians Outlaws baseball organization is sponsoring a fall ball season.
All high school players are eligible and are invited to bring a team or be placed on a squad. A $25 player deposit is required.
Assessments will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during an open practice at Elks Field in Santa Maria. Games will be played every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through October.
