Orcutt 8U squad wins another tourney title
The Orcutt 8U All-Star Softball Team racked up its fifth straight tournament win, taking the Lindsay Rose Softball Tournament championship.
The tournament took place in Goleta July 13 and 14.
Orcutt out-scored its tournament opposition by a combined 30-0 and defeated the Lompoc Regulators 3-0 in the championship game. Irie Cuellar, Alina Villanueva and Emerie Aguilera did the pitching for Orcutt during the tournament.
Aguilera struck out 13 in the tournament title game. She yielded two hits and walked two during her five innings of pitching. Laylah Maxwell drove in two Orcutt runs, and Aguilera drove in one. Aguilera, Kaleigha DeBernardi and Kylie Magallon all had multiple hits for Orcutt.
Orcutt will compete in the USA Softball Class C Championship that will take place this Friday through Sunday in San Diego.
Cross country
Hancock cross country schedule revealed
The Hancock College men’s and women’s cross country teams are slated to make their respective season debuts at the Tour de Cuesta meet that will take place Aug. 23 at the Fairbanks Course across from Cuesta College.
The Western State Conference Championship is scheduled for Oct. 25 at Oxnard. The Southern Cal Regional is slated for Nov. 8 at Chaffey College’s Grigsby Field, and the 3C2A State Championship is set for Nov. 29 at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Basketball
Hancock basketball camp
The Hancock College men’s basketball program will host the Hancock Youth Basketball Summer Camp Aug. 5-8.
The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day at Hancock’s Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Players ages eight-15 are eligible.
Registration cost is $95 per participant. Campers will receive instruction from current and former Hancock men’s basketball players and coaching staff members on shooting, dribbling, ball handling, footwork, defense, rebounding, passing, guard work and post play.
