Sports reporter Jeanna Trotman is leaving WXYZ-TV

Jeanna Trotman, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) sports reporter and weekend sports anchor announced her last day at the network in a statement on X Tuesday.

Trotman was born in Detroit and graduated from Henry Ford II High School in Sterling Heights before receiving a communication degree at Lake Superior State University and a masters in broadcast journalism at Boston University.

“September 6 will be my last day at WXYZ,” said the four-year volleyball NCAA Division-II athlete at LSSU. ” I will forever be grateful for the people & stories over these last three years. I’ve lived my childhood dream at the very station I grew up watching. I’m excited to see what is next & will take this moment to lean into my family & myself.”

Trotman’s first job in television was in 2014 at KAAL, the ABC affiliate in Minnesota where she served as Sports Director before returning back to her home state in 2017 as Sports Director at WEYI/WSMH, the NBC and FOX affiliate in Flint.

She made her way back to WXYZ in 2021, and since then has covered the NHL playoffs, the NCAA national basketball championship and the Ryder Cup.

Her last day at WXYZ is Sep. 6.
