Sports Spotlight: Lovett’s dedication to the team continues to lead to victory

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – In today’s Pepsi Sponsored Sports Spotlight of the Week, we’re highlighting a student/athlete from right here in Greenville.

JH Rose High School Senior and wide receiver, Jaidon Lovett discovered his passion for football at only three years old.

“My uncles on my mom’s side were just huge fans of the Carolina Panthers and stuff, they are big football fans so just growing up around them just automatically turned me towards football, and I’ve been a fan of football every since,” Lovett said.

Those who know him – say his drive and dedication to the sport knows no limits. According to jh rose High School’s head football coach Will Bland, he was one of the big reasons why they made it so far in the playoffs.

“His ability to just do whatever the team needs him to do. He didn’t complain at all last year, he had a dual role last year he was getting alternated with another quarterback but every day he came out to practice and did what he could to help the team win,” Bland said.

Lovett says he hopes to receive some offers soon during his last year at the school. He wants to play collegiate football so that’s what keeps him motivated, he says he is willing to do whatever it takes.

“Just being all over the field and doing whatever I can to help my team out,” Lovett said.

This year Coach Bland says they are working on strengthing the position he performs best in for the team and hopefully get some more eyes on him.

“This year we said hey we are going to focus you on wide-receiver, try to get some college recruiters out there to look at him because he is a very talented kid so if we can get some stats and prepared for the next level then the sky’s the limit for him,” Bland said.

As Lovett steers towards graduation he plans to go to college to study business or exercise science and of course, play football. Their first game is an away game on August 23rd, playing New Hanover.
